On Monday evening the shortlist for the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award was announced and it featured one of our Hall Of Fame inductees, Danny Willett!
The Sheffield born golfer is up against a wide array of sporting talent such as Gareth Bale, Andy Murray, Mo Farah and Jason Kenny. Danny made sporting history in April this year becoming the first Briton to triumph at Augusta in 20 years as well as winning the Dubai Desert Classic in February and finishing second in the European Tour's race for Dubai title. Previous winners include David Beckham, Sir Steve Redgrave and Nick Faldo.
The FirstPoint Athlete played two seasons of golf in America at Jacksonville State in Alabama where he made a massive impact, winning the 2006 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year award followed by medalist honours in 2007. Later that year he won the English Amateur Championship enabling him to turn professional in 2008.
