Cornell is located in Ithaca, New York, is one of the country’s most prestigious universities, currently ranked #10 in the Best College Rankings and #20 in the world. Boasting an international student population of 6,000 (26%) its students represent more than 130 different countries, with a 7.3% acceptance rate.
Silviu has been in the role of Director of Intercollegiate Tennis and the Savitt-Weiss Head Coach of Men's Tennis at Cornell for 13 years and is the most successful coach in the program’s history. He led the ‘Big Red’ to its first ever NCAA Tournament victory and has been awarded the Ivy League Coach of the Year in 2017.
He was one of the leading European junior players, winning the national championship in Romania in 1998 and 1999 and breaking into the top-50 of the junior rankings. He earned a tennis scholarship at the University of Louisiana-Moore before transferring to the University of Oklahoma, where he was an ITA Academic All-American and earned All-Big 12 recognition.
