An exploration of the landscape of college rugby in the United States was the focus of our recent webinar and we were privileged to have Craig Wilson, Director of Rugby at Yale University as our guest speaker.
With extensive experience coaching both men's and women's rugby programs, Wilson shared insights on various aspects of the collegiate game, including its rising popularity in the US, the impact of Ilona Maher on women's rugby, the leading rugby programs, and the qualities that make a successful rugby player at Yale. Drawing on his broad knowledge of the sport, he explained the different divisions and conferences within college rugby and highlighted the opportunities for talented players to advance to Major League Rugby.
“It’s an exciting time to be involved with rugby in States with the World Cup coming up in the not too distant future and more and more varsity programs starting up,” said Craig. “For any players who have been on the cusp of an academy in the UK or are looking to broaden their experience, there are some fantastic opportunities over here.”
